Metz flash units have always been known for their incredible creative flexibility, and the 44MZ-2 is no exception. Ideal for digital cameras, the versatile and powerful 44MZ-2 is a compact flash unit that can be operated in TTL, automatic and manual flash mode. Used in connection with the SCA-3002 adapter system, the 44MZ-2 will work with almost any SLR camera. The tried and tested SCA adapter system makes it compatible with virtually any analog SLR camera as well as with Canon, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus and Sony digital cameras.
A logical menu control makes it possible to select various specialized requirements such as TTL, automatic and manual flash modes. Eight partial light output levels can also be set at the touch of a button.
When the TTL mode is activated the flash unit becomes instantly ready for perfect flash shots without any additional settings. The integrated zoom reflector guarantees optimal light output within 28-105mm focal length. The focal length can even be reduced down to 20mm with an optional wide-angle diffuser. The slim Cobra design of the 44 MZ-2 minimizes the danger of red-eye effect because the flash and exposure axis are spaced more widely apart so that reflections from the retina at the back of the eyes are almost completely avoided.
Diverse special functions:
The 44 MZ-2 features many special functions, among them daylight fill-in flash to brighten up dense shadows. Synchronization with the second shutter curtain is valuable for faithful rendering of effects. Other functions include (in so far as they are supported by the camera): ADI flash control and multi-zone flash metering (Minolta Dimage 5 and Dimage 7), matrix-controlled fill-in flash and under-exposure indication by way of aperture values (Nikon), measuring flash function (Leica), TTL preflash (Contax), contrast control and spot-beam mode (Pentax).
